Relaxed and refined, in equal measure.
The site
Inspired by its headquarters location in Double Bay, Fortis, in collaboration with SJB Architects, envision this incredible laneway destination to become Melbourne’s top-tier food and beverage precinct. The ground floor is set to feature a premium culinary and wellness experience, embodying and re-defining the essence of a quintessential Melbourne laneway.
Richmond is a place full of choice and full of life. Whether staying close to home among the green parks, buzzing cafés and independent galleries, or heading into the CBD, sports venues or arts precinct, there’s a vibrant spirit here you won’t find anywhere else. Richmond is a place that’s connected, cultured, and proud of its deep sense of community.

“We wanted to create a space seamlessly tied to the designs by Hecker Guthrie and SJB. Many of the materials and details have been inspired by the building’s internal spaces, creating an inherent link between inside and out. We’re also planting a range of productive herbs for people to use in their cooking, either here in the rooftop kitchen or in their own residences. This will be a social space, day and night, with spectacular views.”

The vision
Crafted Details
These interiors go beyond the standard with a meticulous approach to detailing, such as the stone table, track lighting, and inclusions that go above and beyond such as the statement Volker Haug-designed light.
Local Tones
The interiors have a subtle link to the built environment of Richmond, most notably in the use of mirrored cabinetry, the pops of heritage green, and the concrete soffits which nod to the industrial past of the area.
Natural Warmth
A consistent and quiet palette draws on elegant materials to cleverly bounce light around each space and highlight areas of warmth, while light boxes provide soft illumination of bars and in the bathroom.
