Nestled in a quiet enclave of Neutral Bay, this site sits on a sloping block that allows for sweeping views across Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and on to the city itself. Neutral Bay’s shops, bars and restaurants are just a short stroll away, as is the local ferry wharf. Many of Sydney’s best private and public schools are also nearby, including Loreto Kirribilli, Shore, Monte Sant’Angelo Mercy College, St Aloysius’ College and North Sydney Boys and Girls High.

Knowing the area intimately, the collaboration between Fortis and PBD Architects was a natural one. Fortis had one central request to the design brief – to deeply reflect the refined nature of the North Shore community in an architecturally memorable design.

Design

PBD Architects responded to our brief with a balanced composition of two angular forms, curved off at each end. These feature curves wrap around the whole building, creating a slow rhythm and privacy for each residence. The design is further enhanced by the composition of textured render, bronze modules, timber-look soffits and the energy of hand-laid stone paving. Ewert Leaf is currently working on the interior design.
