The long-anticipated opening of Glen Bagnara’s newest venue ‘Castlerose’ has arrived, as featured in Good Food this week.

Located on the lower ground floor of Fortis’ 67 Palmerston development beneath daytime eatery and local favourite, ‘Clementine’, Castlerose is a grandiose new basement restaurant and bar inspired by 20th-century English dining. With timber wall panels, a marble-topped bar and brass-edged tables combined with the chandelier-lit entrance to the spiral staircase that leads downstairs, the atmosphere is one of escapism.

“You head downstairs and decide I’m going to get lost in here,” said Glen Bagnara, co-owner.

The menu is small yet classic, highlights include duck-filled pastry cigars are served in a cigar box, a ratatouille tarte tatin, English pork pies with piccalilli, and lobster rolls on toasted milk buns.

Castlerose is open Wednesday through to Saturday, 4pm-late.
