Pallas House Melbourne

67-69 Palmerston Cres, South Melbourne, VIC
In design / Retail & Commercial

With the Victorian footprint of Fortis and Pallas Capital continuing to expand, we recently called in our long-term design partners at Ewert Leaf to help shape an ambitious second home for us in South Melbourne.

The site

On the city-fringe at Palmerston Crescent in South Melbourne, this 592sqm site offers unobstructed views of the Melbourne CBD and is also a short walk from the upcoming ANZAC metro station, as well as St Kilda Road and the South Melbourne Markets.

  • Total building floor area

  • Communal outdoor landscaped areas

  • Deep planter boxes to office spaces

  • Completion date

    Q4 2021

For our new Melbourne home, we wanted to try something different. So instead of a tight creative brief, we entered into a collaboration with one of Australia’s leading architecture firms, Ewert Leaf, to determine the creative vision. It saw an in-house design competition with five internal teams of architects at Ewert Leaf each submitting their own designs for the nine-storey commercial and retail space, including more than 3,300sqm of NLA.

Ewert Leaf design competition

β€œInspired by Japanese modernist architecture, we wanted to create a sense of place and refined elegance in the rich streetscape of Palmerston Crescent.”

Will Leaf, Lead Architect, Ewert Leaf

The Ewert Leaf design competition winners worked closely with our team at Fortis to produce the final designs, which have now been submitted to council for approval. Maximising the outlook to the city through a series of bold framing elements, Pallas House Melbourne uses clean and simple materiality.
