On Wednesday, 6 May, Fortis marked the commencement of main construction works at The Gild, St Kilda with an on-site ceremony—bringing together project partners, stakeholders and members of the St Kilda Collective to celebrate. The event also marked the formal appointment of BCentral as builder for the mixed-use development.
Fortis Head of Delivery, Stephen Boulos, spoke to the significance of the milestone and the importance of partnering with a builder aligned in vision and values.
“This is the moment where vision becomes reality; where years of planning, design and collaboration transition into the delivery of a landmark development we’re incredibly proud of. Projects like The Gild are built on teamwork, shared ambition and a clear commitment to excellence. We are pleased to welcome BCentral as our construction partner and look forward to working closely with their team as the project moves confidently into its next phase.”
Designed in collaboration with Melbourne‑based architecture and interior design studio Telha Clarke, and with landscape architecture by Florian Wild, The Gild draws inspiration from the architecture and interiors of the Riviera—interpreted through a distinctly Melbourne lens.
Jordan Winada, Head of Acquisitions (Commercial) — Victoria, highlighted the role The Gild will play in the renewal of Fitzroy Street and the responsibility of delivering a project that contributes meaningfully to the precinct’s future.
“This is a significant milestone for Fitzroy Street, and we are excited to be part of its next chapter. In 2028, we will deliver 45 one‑, two‑ and three‑bedroom residences, including a collection of penthouses above 65‑metres of curated retail which will bring new activity, amenity and energy to the area.”
The Gild forms part of the St Kilda Collective, an initiative led by Fortis to bring together developers with a shared vision for the precinct’s future. The group includes hospitality and property investment company ERDI, boutique developer Ondas—led by billionaire AirTrunk CEO, Robin Khuda, and the City of Port Phillip. Together, the collective is contributing more than $196 million in development activity along Fitzroy Street.
The Gild is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2028.
