Our Sixty-five Dover Street project has been awarded the Sir Osborn McCutcheon Award for Commercial Architecture at the 2026 Australian Institute of Architects Victorian Chapter Awards — recognition for an approach to commercial architecture that is both highly functional and deeply responsive to its context.
Designed by our appointed architects Fieldwork, the nine-storey Cremorne building brought several fine-grain industrial sites together into one. Three indentations carved from a brick podium widen the footpath at street level, making room for new trees, seating and the entries to two hospitality tenancies. Lemon-scented gums grow straight from deep soil below. Above, a glazed tower follows the same curves, drawing light to the back of each floor. The masonry detailing wraps to the secondary façades, and bright red balustrades on the external fire stairs face the building’s eastern neighbours. The rooftop — with a half basketball court nodding to anchor tenant Adidas — belongs to the people who work there.
The building was fully leased before it was finished, with Suupaa and Baker Bleu at ground level.
The jury described it as “integrous, gracious and refined” — setting a new benchmark for commercial architecture of this scale.
Congratulations to the Fieldwork team on this achievement.
